I love a new brand, but I really love a new brand that I can actually afford. Quite often the price on indie or up and coming labels seems a bit out of reach for a girl with student loan debt, a hefty monthly commuting pass, a less than stellar paying and a string of living expenses. So when I come across new collections I am prepared to just window shop.
This was not the case with Curriculum. What seems to be a creative tank for young designers, the brand has brought to market fresh, wearable couture pieces at a varied affordable price point. With the items starting at $60, it’s nice to see that I can in fact buy more than just a headband or pair of socks. Falling under the $100 personal cap of mine includes one amazing black, sleeveless crop top made for days in the city or in a quaint beach town. Another piece is a shift dress with a stiff, high collar and for those who know me you know I love a high collar.
Other pieces lend itself to a more aspirational price point but with each item offering up a ton of uniqueness there is alot to be said for the value of stepping out in a relaxed, side boob showing jumpsuit with a modern bow detail in the back that can’t be bought at your neighborhood H&M or Zara. Just be prepared to answer the question “where did you get that.”
