Being a visual merchandiser isn’t always easy and not as glamorous as one would think but despite all the dust and grime, the occasional perks can really make the job worthwhile. With it being Market Week in NYC we had the amazing opportunity to visit the showrooms of a handful of companies who supply our store with various props…most importantly our mannequins. Seeing the inspiration behind the different collections and learning more about the manufacturing process was eye opening and gave me a whole new level of respect for my silent models. My favorite visit was at Rootstein Showroom. The Defile Installation was breathtaking and the mix of muslin garments with tribal/steam punk jewelry was perfect. After walking through not only did I want to deck out all my mannequins with facial jewelry but myself as well.
