Spring 2013 Cocktail Trends


This summer will be the summer you upgrade your favorite drink from that sugary, fruity mouthful that sounds somewhat like your morning coffee order at Starbucks to a simpler, more sophisticated relaxing agent.  Below are two of 2013’s trending cocktails that can not only be whipped up into an impressive presentation  but one only has three ingredients.

-The Paloma-

Stop looking at tequila like that drink that always leaves you waking up wondering what the fuck happened last night and more like the refined smooth talker it is.  Don’t drink the worm or scorpion and instead opt to add this baby into your Sunday brunch routine.  The Paloma is the kind of cocktail you’ll want to begin and end your weekend with.

  • 1 lime wedge
  • Kosher salt (optional)
  • Ice
  • 2 ounces blanco tequila
  • 1 ounce fresh grapefruit juice
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce Simple Syrup
  • 1 ounce chilled club soda
  • 1 lime wedge, for garnish
  1. Moisten the outer rim of a highball glass with a lime wedge and coat lightly with salt.
  2. Fill the glass with ice.
  3. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice
  4. Add the tequila, grapefruit and lime juices and Simple Syrup
  5. Shake well
  6. Strain into the glass
  7. Stir in the club soda and garnish with a lime wedge.




-The Lime Juice Daiquiri-

Do not let the mere three ingredients allow you to throw out this recipe.  Sure it’s a concise character but isn’t Scotch on the rocks or brandy?  Do those two drinks not conjure up a certain level of sophistication.  Ofcourse they do and now extend that courtesy to this drink as well.  You won’t be disappointed.


  • Ice
  • 2 ounces white rum
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 ounce Simple Syrup


  1. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice
  2. Add the rum, lime juice and Simple Syrup
  3. Shake well
  4. Strain into a chilled coupe.
